LOCATIONS FOR VIEWING ARTWORK
BIO
I have always been drawn to the arts, but only began pursuing my passion seriously since my children are now fully grown.  I would be classified as a self-taught artist with art galleries and museums as my main source of education.  Viewing the works of old masters’ and contemporary artists’ has always been my inspiration and understanding of styles, techniques, composition and subject matter to become a better artist.  However, during the summer of 2007 I took my first formalized class at Kirtland Community College to continue to push myself further.

While I may consider myself a self-taught artist, I surround myself with other artists by joining various art organizations; such as, the West Branch Creative Arts Association, Gaylord Area Council for the Arts, The Midland Artist Guild, Gladwin  Area  Artists Guild and the Creative Spirit Center.  Working with the artists from these organizations, they help encourage and ignite my passion of becoming a serious artist.

I would classify myself as a photo-realist.  This allows me to showcase my technical skills while entertaining the viewer with my view of the world.  Often nature and human activity are my subject matters as I define the colors and shapes I see.  I allow the subject matter to dictate the medium that I use since I am comfortable using a wide variety of painting and drawing mediums.

My goal as an artist is to create works of art which can be appreciated by people from all walks of life.  Recently my work has been shown in several  juried art exhibitions including, the West Branch Heritage Art Show, Gaylord Area Council for the Arts Annual Exhibition, Saginaw Township Arts in Public Places Art Exhibit, University of Michigan – Dearborn Campus Art Exhibition, Besser Museum Northeast Juried Art Exhibition and the Gladwin Area Artists Guild Fall Exhibition.  As one juror stated, “Patricia Riegle brought us realism with a twist of color and motion for us to appreciate.”

Sincerely,
Patricia
